How to reach us
Meissen – the 1,000-year-old town can be reached easily from all directions. Meissen’s landmarks, the Albrechtsburg Castle and Cathedral, are clearly visible from afar. Both of the monuments which are located on the castle hill are towering high above the Elbe river.
Meissen is approx. 25 km from Dresden and can be approached comfortably via federal roads and the highways nearby.

Airport Dresden:
- Direction Boxdorf - Reichenberg - Moritzburg - Auer - Weinböhla - Meißen, the airport is 30 km away
Traveling by car:
From the direction of the A4:
- Take the Siebenlehn exit and proceed along the B101
- Or: Take the exit for Wilsdruff (Dresden area)
From the direction of the A13:
- Take the ‘Radeburg’ exit
From the direction of the A14:
- Take the ‘Nossen – Ost’ exit
Coming from Dresden:
- Via the B6
Traveling by train:
From the direction of Dresden:
- S-Bahn (S1) to Meißen Station
Traveling by bus:
- numerous bus connections
Traveling by bike:
- the same bike path passes under the castle hill, on the bike path is a sign of Albrechtsburg Castle / Cathedral
CITY-BUS shuttle:
A city-bus operates every half hour between its stops at Albrechtsburg/Cathedral, the market square and the porcelain manufactory from April through October. The modern city-buses seat 13 passengers, including wheel-chair space. Parking:
There are car parks below the castle hill in Meisastraße and along the Elbe with direct access to the castle via the castle park (Schlosspark) steps on Leipziger Straße. From spring to autumn a very convenient service is also provided by the City Bus, which makes a regular run during the castle’s opening hours between the porcelain factory, the old town and castle hill.
